Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105
Bible verses have always been super relevant to every event in my life. When I am scared, I find myself reciting Psalm 23. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. . . You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. When anxiety grips me, Psalm 27 creeps in like the Lord is my life and my salvation- whom shall I fear? I am superwoman because I can do all things through Him says Philippians 4:13. When I am having a hard time trusting the process, Proverbs 3 reminds me to lean not on my own understanding. My parents are constantly at my throat about leading my children in the way they should go. And I agree with them and Proverbs 22. Unfortunately, Sebastian is at that age where church is miserable for me because I spend most of the sermon in the hallway fielding off his screams and hyperactivity. The death stares from the elders and my father don’t help either lol. When I see the cardboard fans start going at super speed around me, I know it is time to make my way to the vestibule.
I don’t have the Bible memorized by a long shot. I don’t even read it the way I am supposed to. I am turning into more of an “EC” church goer until Sebastian is better able to control himself. These devotionals serve a strong purpose in my life for this exact reason. I know enough scripture thanks to my parents and Catholic school education that I can rely on the most quotable verses to lead me on my path to being a better Christian. I’ve got my walking shoes on. I know God’s words will continue to be a lamp unto my feet and provide me with the outlook I need on this journey called life.
Thought: No one expects anyone to know the Bible in full, but you can still rely on the fragments you do know to give you perspective. Whatever the event or situation, rely on God’s word to lead you.
Prayer: Lord, please continue to allow Your word to speak to my life.
Song: Mali Music has a great song called Walking Shoes.
