Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
Hebrews 13:2
Whenever I overhear my mother describing me, she always gloats that I would give the shirt off my back to a stranger in need. To my face, she constantly reminds me that I am too naïve and too nice to people. I slightly agree that I am naïve, but, really, I believe everyone deserves kindness. I always strive to be a blessing to others because I firmly believe that there is parallel universe going on where invisible spirits surround us. I entertain the thought of angels and the protection and guidance they provide us. I’m a little whimsical. I regularly ask my army of angels to interfere (in a good way) in my life. Maybe I watched too many episodes of ‘Touched by an Angel’ growing up, but I am not going to be the one that overlooks Tess or Monica on a street corner. Matter of fact, come through Angel Della like Iyanla and fix my life. But seriously, kindness to a stranger, charity to those in need, mercy to the oppressed yield unexpected rewards. God blesses those who bless others. The universe blesses those that bless others. People do not develop into angels. Angels are created by God if you believe in such a phenomenon. They can be present and overlooked at any time, even in the shape of man. So, show some hospitality to that stranger. He or she might just be your guardian angel.
Thought: We are ALL children of God – even strangers.
Reflection: God, universe, angels, please continue to fill my heart with compassion so that I can be of service to those in need.
Song: I’m reminded of a song by Pink called ‘Beam Me Up’ when I read this.
